  • Updated Playing time section on 1/3/24

Note - NMAA reserves the right to amend the rules at any point in the season as they see fit.

Code of Conduct

NMAA promotes a clean, family friendly atmosphere. Any violation of these policies is taken very seriously.

There is absolutely no FIGHTING allowed. First offense is suspension and/or expulsion from the league. NMAA will review each incident on a case by case situation.

All players, staff and coaches are given the right to play in NMAA based on cooperating with these rules

Coaches are volunteers and must abide by conduct and game rules. NMAA reserves the right to remove volunteers from any role at any time at their discretion.

There is no cursing allowed. NMAA promotes a family friendly atmosphere. Any cursing is an automatic technical foul. Excessive cursing will result in a warning, followed by a 1 game suspension. Any cursing towards fans in the audience or NMAA staff will result in an immediate 1 game suspension. Incidents will carry over season to season and players can and will be put on probation if they do not adhere to these rules.

There is no heckling or abusive language allowed. Players/fans (includes family and friends) cannot heckle or speak abusively to anyone in NMAA, which includes players, coaches, staff and also other fans. If fans are causing the problem, the player responsible for those fans will be held responsible for their actions. NMAA reserves the right to expel and ban any abusive fans/players. Non-Compliance could result in an incident with UCF and campus police.

Players must comply with their coaches. Coaches control teams, rotations and strategy. Players cannot disregard the coach on these items. All teams also agree to be a good participant and respect NMAA's policy and other teams. All teams must attend every game as forfeits are strictly forbidden. Once teams have registered and paid they automatically agree to be bound by these rules.

Code of Conduct Warning System (All players and coaches)

  • First violation - Warning
  • Second Violation - 1 or 2 quarter suspension
  • Third Violation - 1 game suspension
  • Any further violations will result in suspension from season
  • NMAA reserves the right to expel any player, coach, staff or official for violations of conduct, disrespect to NMAA, or public libel/slander of NMAA.

Note this does not include fighting. Fighting is a 1 game suspension and/or permanent expulsion from the league

Playing time: (updated February 2024)

  • Coaches are asked to play all players a minimum of 15-18 minutes per game. (roughly over 4 minutes a quarter.) Please note, this is no longer a requirement in NMAA due to the demand, skillset, and overall competitiveness of our leagues. NMAA gives authority to it’s coaches who are essentially the franchise owners of their teams, and this allows them to manage playing time as they see fit.

    • Tip - Start rotating players in around the 3-5 minute mark of the first quarter. Do your next rotations no later than the 6 minute mark of the second quarter.

    • If you have a 6th man, start him over your 5th best player, and now your 5th guy becomes your sixth man and first off the bench.

  • Players have the right to file a complaint to NMAA if they are not getting playing time

    • This can lead to a trade request

    • Note again, playing time is no longer guaranteed. During signup/registration players are informed that playing time in NMAA now has to be earned.

  • Coaches required to do 10 minutes per game (pro), 15 minutes in Semi Pro; must submit an injury claim before game if they are not going to meet that

Injury replacement (Updated 2025)

During the regular season if a team has only 4 players that team can pick up any coach as a fill in that is not in the top 3 rounds. If a coach or player is injured and not able to play 48 minutes they can pick up a coach as a sub for only that injured player

In Playoffs, before the quarterfinals begin if a team loses a player for that game a coach can replace that player for the rest of the playoffs

Conditions for approval

  1. Replacement player similar in position
  2. Must be in the same round or only a few picks apart in draft
  3. Stats must be similar
  4. Playstyle as close as possible

There will be situations that this happens right before the game and there is not enough time for a thorough approval process.

All rules voted on and approved by coaches each season. Decisions made by NMAA leadership.
